Helping Haven House during the onset of a pandemic

We love to serve those who serve others in our community. That’s why we love partnering with organizations like Haven House.  

Back in March, we had the opportunity to support Haven House and help them through a challenging time to keep their mission in motion.

Just as COVID-19 was on the rise, their 24-hour hotline was losing connection and they were unable to communicate with their clients. If you’re familiar with Haven House’s mission, you can imagine how timely responses are very important.

About Haven House

Haven House saves and changes lives through the intervention and prevention of domestic violence by offering 24-hour shelter and crisis hotline, support services, youth programs and community awareness. Their programs provide food, a safe place to stay, transportation, employment opportunities, clothing, legal advice, and much more.  

While Haven House was experiencing issues with their 24-hour hotline, shelter-in-place guidelines were also being developed state-wide and Haven House needed reliable communication.

Melina Politte, Executive Director of Haven House, had two goals: to ensure that her team had resources to work remotely and to keep their clients safe. It wasn’t long before Melina reached out to Allevia Technology for help.

Haven House has multiple locations and was operating on an old phone system. Dropped calls were not acceptable for their line of work. Their team needed the tools to work remotely while providing the same resources and level of support for their clients.

Staying connected while being apart

“Our team now has access to a shared drive so we can locate important information. If we didn’t have quick access to a safety plan, it could put someone in danger. We are connected now more than ever as an agency,” says Melina.
