11 Signs that your website needs a refresh

We believe that your website is one of the most valuable tools to have as a business.

Think about it. Your website works 24/7/365 and never takes a vacation. Your potential clients and customers often interact with your business online before they ever call or set foot in your office.

So, shouldn’t your website make a great first impression? We think so! Let’s take a look at a few reasons why your site may need a refresh this year.

  1. Your site loads slowly

If you don’t want to wait around for your site to load, your customers don’t want to either! Your site should load in less than three seconds to keep your customers happy.

  1. Your site isn’t mobile friendly

Your customers are most likely on the go and use their cell phone to search for your business. Your website should be easy to use and responsive from any mobile device.

  1. You’re unsure if your site is secure

In Chrome, go to your website. Look for a symbol to the left of your web address. What do you see? If you see anything other than a secure lock symbol, your site most likely needs an updated security certificate. We can help secure your site, and keep it that way!

  1. Your bounce rate is high

Your website should be easy to use! Don’t make your customers think. Navigation should be simple so they can quickly find the information they need. Not sure what your bounce rate is? We can help!

  1. People don’t understand what you do

Have people looked at your website and asked, “So, what do you do?” Your website should clearly explain how you can help. Avoid using fancy jargon that will confuse your audience. Do you want to know the best way to write website copy? Listen to your customers and write it down.

  1. You’re embarrassed by your site

Someone asks, “Hey, do you have a website?” And you say, “Yeah, but…” and then give a long list of excuses. Your website probably needs a refresh! You should be proud of your website. It’s a great tool to tell your story and how you can help.

  1. Not optimized for SEO

Keywords are great! Know how to talk to your audience and remember to include those terms in your website copy. We’re happy to work with you on content writing to best tell your story.

  1. There’s no clear “Call to Action”

Once people are interested in your products or services, you want them to act. Your call to action should clearly tell them what to do next. If your site has poor conversion results, you may need to rethink your call to action. Here are a few popular call to action phrases:

  1. The purpose of your site has changed

Have you changed how you connect with your customers? Maybe you host virtual workshops or you just opened an online store. Your website should communicate those new opportunities.

  1. Your site goes down frequently

Can’t reach your site? Well, that’s a little scary. This may be a result of unreliable web hosting or a plugin error. Do you have a back up if your site is lost? We can answer those questions to give you peace of mind.
